Peter J. Polos
LOS ANGELES, February 22, 2011. The Honorable Peter J. Polos (ret.) of Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP was appointed on January 26, 2011 by U.S. District Court Judge David Katz to served on the Plaintiff’s Leadership Committee in the DePuy ASR Hip Implant Litigation pending in federal district court in Toledo, Ohio. Polos will be one of thirteen attorneys on the Steering Committee which will help direct the personal injury litigation against DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. relating to its recalled ASR Hip Implant systems. An Executive Committee and various other committees were also established by Judge Katz. More than one hundred plaintiffs’ lawyers sought to be appointed to leadership positions in the MDL, which is expected to include hundreds of cases.

Polos serves as Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP’s Director of Litigation, overseeing the firm’s entire litigation practice, including coordinating the firm’s DePuy hip implant litigation. Prior to joining Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP in early 2010, he spent eight years as a Superior Court Judge in Orange County, California and presided over 250 trials. Before his appointment to the bench, Polos was a partner at a Newport Beach, California mass tort firm where he worked on various matters, including the coordinated Sulzer Hip Litigation.
