In a news release Thursday, C.O. Lynch Enterprises Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a voluntary recall of hiking boots due to a foot injury hazard.
Subject to recall are approximately 52,000 Itasca Fusion Hiker boots because the boots may not protect against compression and impact, posing a risk of injury to wearer’s feet. The toe of the boot is composed of a hard composite material as opposed to steel. No injuries related to the issue have been reported.
The boots affected by the recall are in men’s shoe sizes 7 to 14. Printed on a label on the underside of the boots tongue are the model name (Fusion), the style number (45513), and order numbers (22215, 22216 or 22217). Embossed on the top of the tongue and imprinted on the boot’s removable insole are the word “Itasca” and the Itasca logo. “Steel Toe” is printed on a tag on the outside of the boot. The boot is black with an upper made of leather and nylon and a thermoplastic rubber outsole.
The boots were sold between March 2011 and June 2011 exclusively at Big 5 Sporting Goods stores for about $50.
Consumers are urged to stop wearing the boots immediately and return them to C.O. Lynch for a full refund.
I hope no one has been injured by wearing the recalled boots. As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I encourage anyone who has purchased the boots to return them as soon as possible.
