Weehoo, Inc., in cooperation with the United State Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall of their bike trailers, due to a detachment issue.
The specific product subject to recall is the Weehoo iGo Bicycle Pedal Trailer. About 2,700 were sold between April 2011 and July 201, nationwide, for about $390.
The recall is in response of complaints about the trailer’s seat post hitch. Wehoo received a report of an instance in which it cracked, while could lead to the trailer separating from the bike, which could pose fall or crash hazards to the child inside.
Only one circumstance has been reported thus far, and no one was injured, according to news sources.
The trailer’s frame is made of steel and has a seat that adjusts for children between 38 and 52 inches tall. It comes with two pedals, a sprocket and chain, two pannier pockets, and a flag. The wheel is 20 inches. The product is made of red nylon. The Weehoo logo is printed on the trailer.
If you have one of these products, stop using it immediately and contact Weehoo. The company will provide consumers with a steel part to remedy the situation.
