The U.K. has accused a homeless man of sabotaging packets of painkillers with anti-psychotic drugs, according to recent news sources.
The man, who was arrested last week, appeared in court on Monday for charges of contamination of goods and administering a noxious substance.
The arrest comes after an investigation beginning in August, when the product Nurofen Plus was found to contain an anti-psychotic prescription drug in some cases and a drug for epileptics in others. The product was recalled after the contamination was discovered.
The hearing occurred at West London Magistrates’ Court. The 30-year-old man has only confirmed his name and date of birth. The judge has placed the man under custody until a December hearing.
