Honda announced today that they will recall 310,773 of their Pilot model vehicles to reevaluate the seat belt stitching, according to news sources.
The models subject to recall are from the 2009-2011 model years. The recall is limited to those sold in the United States.
The issue is with the driver and front-passenger seat belts. Honda believes that the belts’ stitching may have been manufactured improperly, leading to a belt possibly becoming loose in a crash. Honda has stated that the stitching which connects to belt that lies across the lap to the outboard anchor webbing may be incomplete or missing.
While no injuries have been reported as a result of faulty seat belt stitching, if a belt comes loose in a crash, serious injury could occur.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive a recall notice. Owners are instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer upon receipt of this notice.
