Local news reports have stated that a company from California, Papa Cantella’s Inc. has recalled 456 pounds of chicken sausage packages after the company noticed the product was mislabeled. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service states that the reason behind the recall is the presence of walnuts, an undeclared allergen that can cause life-threatening allergic reactions to individuals with a propensity toward various cases of nut allergies.
The issue surfaced after a consumer allegedly allergic to walnuts complained to the company about the presence of the allergen in the product. The recalled item’s production code is P-6016.
According to the company, the recalled products were distributed only in California. The FSIS urges all consumers to return the mislabeled product at once to the place of purchase. Do not hesitate to contact the company if you have any questions about the reactions to the allergen.
As a Los Angeles wrongful death attorney I understand that many types of allergens can pose major health threats to certain individuals who deal with acute allergies everyday. I sincerely hope that all recalled items will be taken off the shelves of all stores in the state of California so no reports of illnesses related to this issue will be heard of in the future.
Personal injury lawyers in Los Angeles urge all readers to make sure they won’t keep nay recalled food products in their house, hopefully companies won’t make such mistakes in the future, consumer safety should be their main priority at all times.
