News report that the crib manufacturer Yu Wei Co. issued a recall for their items sold exclusively at JCPenney stores Nationwide. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the decision on October 5th.
The issue is due the possible suffocation and entrapment hazards that the items may pose to consumers all over the nation. It was noted that the drop-side rails from the cribs could fall out of their position as stated on the reports released by the CPSC. In the occasion of an accidental misplacement of the drop-side rails, a child could become entrapped and then possibly suffocated.
Another risk that was stated at the report was that the child could also fall from the crib.
The company has stated that these hazards may have been caused because of an allegedly incorrect assembly of the parts. CPSC has reported that the owners of the Scroll and Lauren models are advised to reach Yu Wei for a free immobilizer kit to keep the crib from malfunctioning entirely. Hopefully all consumers had time to get their kit for a safer product experience by now.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I hope that there were no accidents related to children being entrapped by this product and urge all parents to be specially watchful when it comes to their child’s sleeping arrangements. Remember to contact an efficient product liability lawyer in a timely manner if you ever find yourself dealing with a malfunctioning product that may pose health hazards.
