According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 4,296 Chevy Sonic vehicles after it was discovered that the recalled vehicles may have missing front brake pads, posing a potentially significant deterioration of the brake system as a result.
The company, General Motors, announced the recall after it was found that the recalled vehicles may be missing either the inner or outer front brake pad. The missing brake pads can result in decreased performance of the vehicles brake system, posing an increased risk of crashing. The recalled vehicles were made from June 2, 2011 through November 21, 2011.
GM is expected to begin notifying consumers about the recall beginning January 14, 2012. Consumers can bring in their recalled vehicles for a free inspection and installation of the missing brake components.
