According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 6,723 cases of alfalfa sprouts since it was found that the product was contaminated with Salmonella after a random customer sample test.
The company, Green Valley Food Corp, announced the recall of the “Let’s Grow Healthy Together!” alfalfa sprouts after a random customer sample tested positive for the Salmonella bacteria. The recalled product has a Best By date of January 1, 2012 and has been distributed mainly to retail chains and restaurant establishments in Texas.
Consumers, especially children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, can experience severe or life-threatening infections due to consumption of the product.
