According to news sources, a recall has been issued for one lot of Rexall Calcium 1200 mg plus 1000IU Vitamin D3 due to a pill mix-up that resulted in some tablets having ingredients derived from crustacean shells, which can cause severe allergic reactions if consumed by people with shell fish allergies.
The company, Rexall, Inc., announced the recall in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after certain recalled bottles were found to contain glucosamine chondroitin, which can be harmful to people with allergy to shell fish products. The recalled pill bottles were sold exclusively at Dollar General stores.
There have been no reported illnesses to date.
Consumers with the recalled bottles should return them to a Dollar General store for a full refund or contact the company at 888-534-6370 for more information.
