Jaguar Land Rover North America Incorporated has issued a recall for a specific model of the rear drive shaft couplings potentially installed as replacement parts in Discovery model sports utility vehicles. A manufacturing defect might cause the couplings to fail while the vehicle is in operation, endangering the lives of the driver and others on the road.
Approximately 180 couplings, manufactured between April and November of 2011, are affected by the recall. These parts bear the identification number TVF10001. They were used as replacement parts for some Discovery sports utility vehicles from model years 1995 to 1999, and Discovery II vehicles from model years 1999 to 2004, and potentially Land Rover Classics from 1995.
These defective drive shaft couplings can cause vibrations that if left unrepaired can cause the couplings to detach, separating the vehicle from the drive shaft and putting the vehicle in danger of a collision. Jaguar Land Rover will begin recalling the faulty drive shaft couplings on April 23. Consumers affected by the recall should contact Land Rover. The company will replace the defective rear drive shaft couplings at no cost to the consumer.
As a San Francisco car accident attorney, I certainly hope this corporation can effectively recall its faulty product before it endangers the lives of its customers, but unfortunately this doesn’t always happen. If you have been harmed by a defective product, please consider contacting a San Francisco personal injury attorney.
