According to news sources, a recall has been issued for two lots of Kountry Buffet 14% feed due to the product containing harmful levels of monensin sodium (Rumensin).
The company, Western Feed, LLC announced the recall of its two M718430 and M720280 lots after it was found to contain potentially harmful levels of monensin sodium that could be potentially fatal to horses at certain levels. To date, the company has reportedly received multiple reports of horses that died due to the consumption of the recalled product. A private laboratory conducted a testing of the recalled product and indicated the presence of the increased level of Rumensin.
