The potential presence of an allergen that is not listed on a product’s label has led to the recall of that product.
The Pipestone, Minnesota-based J & B Group announced the recall, which concerns two different steakhouse burger products. Around 456 pounds in total are affected by the recall. The first item, No Name Roasted Peppers, Onions and Mozzarella Cheese Steakhouse Burgers, has a Julian date of 03312 and comes in a 27 ounce package that actually contains six smaller four and a half ounce burgers. The second product is called Beef Steakburger with Steakhouse Seasoning. Items in this category came in cases with a code of 19051, 1049XXX as their serial number, and the same Julian date as the other product.
The products in question were all packaged on February 3, have Est. 8934 under the USDA mark of inspection, and were available through retailers in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The first item mentioned was not packed correctly, and instead of having what it purports to, it actually contains a different Steakhouse Burger product. This item has a seasoning mix partially composed of soy and wheat proteins. As these allergens were not listed on the labels, a class II recall had to be initiated on both items.
There have yet to be any reported illnesses or severe reactions in association with this recall. Concerned parties are being advised to contact a doctor should they have such a reaction.
