Perhaps one of the most disappointing occurrences is when a recall is issued for a component of a vehicle, but that component is installed in so many different vehicles that numerous recalls have to be issued in order to correct the problem amongst the various fleets.
Those who have been paying attention to vehicular recalls may have heard something about a recall concerning vehicles equipped with Bosch Hydraulic Disc Brakes. This component was installed on a number of motorhomes of various vehicle types. If a consumer goes a long time without driving a vehicle equipped with these brakes, safety issues with the pistons could present themselves and cause brake drag. This brake drag could lead to the brakes being compromised, increasing the risk that a crash will take place.
The latest vehicles affected by this safety defect have been recalled by Winnebago. The recall concerns J38S vehicles of model years between 2009 and 2012, Adventurer motorhomes of model years 2009 and 2010, and one Itasca Suncruiser of the 2009 model year. 63 vehicles in total are encompassed by this latest recall.
There is as of yet no word on when owners can expect to receive a notification from Freightliner, the makers of the chassis that contain the Bosch brakes. Once notification is sent out, however, consumers will be able to bring the motorhomes in to a dealer to get free repairs.
