A voluntary recall has been issued by the Los Angeles-based EDIC in regards to air movers/blowers produced by the company. EDIC is advising consumers to immediately stop using these products because of the risk of fire associated with the items. The recall encompasses a total of 53,000 units. Each of these units may have an internal electrical capacitor in danger of failing or overheating, causing a fire hazard in the process. Currently, four incidents of such fires have been reported, all of them leading to an individual’s property becoming damaged.
Recalled products may have “Aqua Dri” printed on top, but this is not guarantee. 3004AD and 3004ADxxx will be included as part of the serial number located on the back of the movers/blowers. The items are 18 inches high, long, and deep, and come with a cord that is yellow and 25 feet long. The items are used to dry floors. They were sold across the country to various contractors and other service providers between January 2003 and September of last year. During that time, they retailed from $160 to $285.
Users may contact EDIC for a free repair kit that should provide a fix for the problem. Until such time that the repair kit is provided, though, consumers are being advised to cease using the product.
