Another product has been recalled because of the danger it could pose to its child users.
The recall was announced by the Miamisburg, Ohio-based Evenflo Incorporated, and concerns their convertible high chair product. The item can transform from a high chair into a table and chair that toddlers are able to use. There are three models affected by the recall: Dottie Rose, Dottie Lime, and Marianna. Their model numbers are 29111271, 29111259, and 29111234, respectively. Around 35,000 units are affected by the recall.
At issue is the fact that these items have an activity tray that is at risk of suddenly detaching from the rest of the unit. If this happens, any child using the seat at that time will find themselves without proper restraint, and that child could then fall out of the seat. This would put the kid at risk of sustaining injury, which is exactly what happened in eight reported occurrences. Children got away with only bruises and scrapes in those cases, and ten more reports apparently did not involve an injury.
These items were available at Toys R Us and Walmart retail locations across the country from last December until this month. They cost around $40. Affected parents and guardians are being asked to contact Evenflo to get a replacement tray and instructions on how to install it.
