General Motors has begun to recall 2012 Chevy Captiva Sport passenger vehicles, all manufactured between April 26, 2012 and May 17, 2012. The number of potentially affected units is 2,070. The vehicles fail to meet parking brake performance requirements mandated by the government. The parking brake cable may become separated from the connector, causing the brake to fail outright, leaving the door open to a runaway vehicle situation if parked on an incline. GM is notifying owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and carry out any necessary repairs without cost to the consumer.
