Europe-wide research shows that employers can reduce automobile accidents by equipping the vehicles in their fleets with safety aids. The European Field Operational Test study determined that adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning can reduce almost 6% of automobile accidents. These and other technologies can be beneficial, and the estimated cost for equipping a vehicle hovers between £1000 – £2000 per vehicle. This is important, as crash fatalities in Europe increased in 2011 for the first time since 1994.
