A report out of Marin, California is the latest publication to tell parents and other motorists to slow down as they approach school zones. A spokesperson for AAA Northern California says that, from 2000 to this year, over 1,200 students were killed between 3 and 7 o’clock at night, the hours just after school typically gets out. That amounts to one third of fatalities. AAA says slowing down to 25 miles per hour means a pedestrian has a 67% better chance of surviving in a crash than if they were struck by a vehicle going 35 mph.
