Pedestrian Safety Month began last week in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and police in the city are taking the month’s moniker seriously. Leading into September, police officials will be using marked and unmarked vehicles, as well as decoy pedestrians, to catch drivers who endanger persons commuting on foot. 23 citations have already been issued since the effort began last week, and particular attention is being placed on distracted drivers and pedestrians who ignore posted signage by jaywalking.
