A Pedestrian Safety Operation will be conducted in Prineville, Oregon to help reduce the number of crashes involving pedestrians, especially those caused by distracted driving. The Prineville Police Department will have a plain clothes officer cross downtown streets. Nearby officers will then be ticketing drivers who don’t yield the right of way. The offense carries a fine of $260. In addition, violations for cellphone use will also be targeted. Citations for that will cost $142.
