The city of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey is hoping to decrease the likelihood of child pedestrian injuries through a campaign called Operation School Zone Safety. Put on by the local police department, the initiative will see police in the area cracking down on motorists who endanger children by speeding, veering around school buses, and not stopping in the right place to make a drop-off or pick-up. The first two weeks will see increased enforcement, but police will also be periodically stepping up their efforts at intervals throughout the year.
