Rail tankers are arguably the most practical means by which we can transport hazardous materials across country. However, it has been revealed that they feature a major flaw in that they aren’t designed to withstand accidents. Potential toxic spilling, fires, or even an explosion could thus occur. The rail industry wants only those train cars built after October of last year to submit to new guidelines, but the National Transportation Safety Board wants older transports to comply as well.
