A sixth grader has come up with the winning entry for the “It Can Wait” hackathon from AT & T held in early September. The Rancho Palos Verdes student, with the assistance of a designer who works at WLDG, created an app called Rode Dog that lets users create networks of acquaintances who can utilize GPS technology to receive alerts which tell everyone in the network when a member is texting while driving. Once that happens, a dog bark will emit from the phone until the driver puts down the device. The app will become available soon.
