Thousand Oaks was recently the site of a crackdown operation focused on motorists who endangered pedestrians in the area by violating right of way laws. The initiative fond two officers in plain clothes walking through a crosswalk and looking out for violators. In just an hour and a half, 28 citations were issued to drivers. 17 of those violations were cellphone-related, and one of them even involved a driver using his phone to take a picture of an officer astride a motorcycle.
