Georgia has joined the list of states that have reported cases of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroids provided to clinics and hospitals by the New England Compounding Center. That makes it the 17th such state to be affected by an outbreak that has thus far claimed the lives of 23 people and adversely affected at least 308 individuals. Of those, four involved a joint infection. It’s thought that up to 14,000 people could have been exposed to the contaminated items.
