Numerous vehicles available right here in California and only three other states are being recalled because of a fuel leak risk that could lead to a fire under the right circumstances.
American Suzuki announced the recall, which affects XL-7 vehicles of the 2007 model year. Each of the 2,830 vehicles included within the recall announcement were distributed or registered in either Arizona, Texas, Nevada, or as mentioned above, our own state of California.
The automobiles, which were produced between June and December of 2006, could experience cracking in their fuel pump module’s return port or plastic supply. This situation could lead fuel to emanate from the component, and if this happens in the vicinity of an open flame or some similar ignition source, a fire becomes a distinct possibility.
Owners should hear from American Suzuki about the issue at some point, but it should be noted that the company has not yet been decided when this will happen. Once contact is made, though, vehicle owners should be able to get a component replacement from a local dealer. This will be done at no cost to the owner. Anyone with questions is being advised to get in touch with Suzuki directly.
