A parking brake issue has led to the recall of 4,490 Hyundai Veloster vehicles of the 2012 model year. On those versions of the vehicle with a manual transmission, road grime and moisture could build up and lead to the binding of components of the parking brake. This could compromise the brake’s ability to keep the vehicle in place when engaged. An unexpected movement of the vehicle could thus result and cause a crash or an injury. The brake could also drag while the automobile is being driven. In January, owners will be contacted by Hyundai, and they’ll then be able to bring their Velosters in to a dealer to receive the necessary repairs. These will be conducted at no cost to owners.
