Widespread recalls of beef products were recently issued in Canada due to an E. coli outbreak. XL Foods, the company behind the recalled beef, was forced to close its doors amid recalls of steaks, ground beef, and more. Now, a recent survey shows that some Canadians have cut down on how much beef they eat. The survey, conducted by Praxicus Public Strategies, found that 42% of the 1,000 or so people queried have either stopped eating beef altogether or have cut back on what they do consume. A member of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, however, believes that this has more to do with supply issues and less to do with fears about the safety of beef.
