Parents have a tall task ahead of them if they’re to keep up with all the recalls potentially affecting items within their households. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and other safety advocates strive to ensure that all persons are properly informed whenever a children’s product has a safety defect, but keeping track of this information is difficult with all the other things going on in a person’s life.
That’s why we were glad to see Consumer Reports put together a handy list of those kids’ products that have been recalled over the past year. With 2013 nearly upon us, it’s an apt time to look back at the year that was and double check that no items in our possession suffer from a defect.
The list from Consumer Reports covers such items as high chairs, strollers, bath seats, child carriers, and other types of devices meant to be used by children of varying ages. In many cases, a fall hazard, a laceration risk, an amputation threat, and other types of hazards were to blame for the recalls, which sometimes added up to millions of potentially affected units.
Check the list, and if you realize that an item you own has been recalled, react accordingly. Every recall announcement should contain return instructions, and it’s important to execute these directives immediately to preserve safety.
