The threat of a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination has led to another recall. This time, the Salinas-based Taylor Farms Retail announced the recall, which affects Hearts of Romaine with an expiration date of December 13 (given the date, the lettuce shouldn’t be consumed anyway). Each of the 161 affected cases contained ten ounce packages of the romaine lettuce. Sample testing uncovered the potential Listeria contamination, and because of the potential threat, consumers are being advised to refrain from eating the lettuce. Instead, they should dispose of the lettuce at once and be wary of signs of Listeria sickness if they’ve already partaken of the item. Signs include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and more.
