The potential for a Listeria monocytogenes contamination has prompted the recall of 6,671 pounds of sliced apples. Freshway Foods issued the recall, which specifically pertains to three items: 14 ounce packages of red apple slices and green apple slices under the Motts brand name, and 2.4 ounce packages of red apple slices under the Sonics brand name. No one has reported becoming ill in conjunction with these apples at this time, and the good news is that each version of the item has expired and thus shouldn’t be eaten now anyway. Consumers who still possess the apples should promptly dispose of them. Sample testing confirming the presence of Listeria prompted the recall.
