The past year has seen 650 recalls of vehicles, child safety seats, and auto equipment, thanks in large part to the efforts of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 17.8 million of the aforementioned types of items were recalled throughout the year, and many of the recalls came on the heels of an investigation into whether or not a vehicle was compliant with federal regulations or otherwise suffered from a defect. The Transportation Secretary praises the efforts of the NHTSA, while the Administrator of the agency places stresses the part that consumers have to play in vehicle recalls. So if anyone out there ever suspects their automobile might suffer from a defect, it’s imperative that they get in touch with the NHTSA at once.
