Chrysler has announced the recall of Dodge Viper vehicles of the 2003 and 2004 model years. 3,660 automobiles are thought to be affected by the recall, which comes about because of the potential failure of a certain air bag control module component. If this failure occurs, the seatbelt pretensioners and the airbags themselves may suddenly activate in the midst of normal driving conditions. This could lead persons inside the vehicle to sustain an injury, and the vehicle itself could be involved in a crash due to the sudden distraction to the driver. At some point this month, owners should hear from Chrysler as to the issue, but the actual repairs likely won’t begin until later. Those repairs will be provided for free by dealers.
