The safety of bicyclists is receiving attention in the city of San Diego. Earlier this week, the Land Use and Housing Committee approved a measure that would call upon city officials to prioritize bicycle safety and infrastructure improvements. Now that the document has received the go-ahed from the committee, the Council will consider the matter. Prompted by a series of recent collisions, one committee member expressed a desire to see the entire city benefit from new bike-centric projects and improvements to infrastructure already in place. The measure would encourage officials to create a network of paths meant to be used by cyclists and install things like better-protected bicycle tracks and highly visible road markings.
