On March 8, 2013, six weeks after the trial in Los Angeles Superior Court began, a jury awarded Loren Kransky $8.3 million in his case against DePuy Orthopaedics arising from its recalled ASR hip implant systems. DePuy is owned by Johnson & Johnson. The jury found that the design of the hip implant was defective and that the defect injured Mr. Kransky. The award included $8 million in non-economic damages for the pain and suffering Mr. Kransky has experienced as a result of the defective implant and the revision surgery he was forced to undergo as a result.
Brian Panish of Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP was among the personal injury attorneys representing Mr. Kransky at trial and made the closing argument along with Mike Kelly of Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger. After the verdict today, Mr. Panish stated “this verdict is the day of reckoning for Johnson & Johnson. The jury has found that its product is defective, and has fully compensated the victim for the pain and suffering they have caused Mr. Kransky. Now we move on to helping out the more than 9000 other victims.” Mr. Kransky was also represented at trial by Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger, the Gomez Law Firm and the Law Offices of Dean Goetz.
Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP represents hundreds of plaintiffs whose ASR hips failed early and who have brought suit in Los Angeles and in federal court. The firm has a leadership role in both the California consolidated actions and the federal Multi-District Litigation.
