Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac SRX vehicles of the 2013 model year have been recalled by General Motors because of an issue with the transmission. 26,582 vehicles could potentially be affected by the issue, which presents itself should a software error take place. Such an error can lead to the accidental shifting of the transmission into Sport mode, a condition which takes away the transmission braking effect. When this type of engine braking is unavailable without the driver’s knowledge, it could lead to a crash situation. On March 28, the recall is set to start, at which point owners will hear from GM and be able to seek out free transmission control module reprogramming from a dealer.
