31LFW transit buses of the 2012 model year and “416” transit buses of the 2008 through 2013 model years have been recalled by North American Bus Industries. On 1,179 of these vehicles, the rotary defroster switch is in danger of overheating. Were this to occur, the dash could melt and a fire could break out. Even if a blaze doesn’t erupt, the issue could pull the driver’s focus from the road and lead to a potential crash. The recall will start at some point this month, at which point owners will hear from NABI. Consumers can then obtain free installation of relays that are designed to cut down on the level of current moving through the component.
