Explorers of the 2013 model year and Lincoln MKS and Taurus vehicles of the 2012 model year have been recalled by Ford because there could be a seam in the fuel tanks that wasn’t adequately sealed. 3,037 vehicles could suffer from this issue, which could compromise the stability of the fuel tanks during a crash situation. This could lead a fire to break out if the crash causes fuel to emanate from the tank. Even without a crash prompting this emanation, there’s still a chance that fuel could leak. April 22 marks the date the recall is slated to start, and owners will hear from Ford at that point. Free inspections and fuel tank replacements will be provided to vehicle owners at no charge.
