Mitsubishi Motors North America has announced the recall of Outlander Sport vehicles of the 2013 model year because they are potentially out of compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Standards regarding lamps and theft protection. The 4,539 vehicle could suffer from two issues: the first would find the brake lights coming on at irregular intervals or being lit inappropriately. The second involves the shift lever, which can be taken out of Park even when a driver neglects to press the brake. The former could lead a trailing automobile to crash into the leading vehicle, while the latter could cause the vehicle to roll away and injure bystanders. There’s no word on when the recall will start, but once it does, owners can expect a free stop lamp switch replacement.
