A threat of entanglement has prompted the recall of children’s clothing that was available across the country. After 14 years of guidelines intended to prevent injuries from stemming from drawstrings in children’s wear, stipulations on such materials became law a couple years ago. These clothes fail to meet the standards of said law.
The New York City-based Children’s Apparel Network announced the recall, which concerns girls’ three piece clothing sets under the Young Hearts brand. These pink and black sets of clothing were sized 12 months to 6X. The clothes were available at various retailers and online from Amazon between this past September and December.
The vest on these sets comes with a belt that could entangle the child wearing the clothing if it gets stuck in something like a vehicle door or other small space. This could endanger the child unnecessarily. A total of 9,200 sets of clothing are in breach of the federal law.
Thankfully, no kids have reportedly been injured at this point in time. Parents have two options for the recall: they can simply return the item to get their money back, or if they prefer, they can elect to let the child keep wearing the vest so long as the belt is first removed. This should take care of the threat.
