With summer nearly here, people across California are soon going to be pulling their motorcycles out of storage (if they haven’t already) and taking to the roads. If you own a motorcycle, it’s important to get safety issues fixed now before a hazard has a chance to crop up. If you own one of the following recalled motorcycles typically used for off-road and closed course competitions, then it’s imperative to obtain necessary repairs at once.
The Amherst, Ohio-based KTM North America announced the recall, which affects off-road and competition/closed courses motorcycles under the Husaberg and KTM brands. 13 models of the 2012 and 2013 model years are thought to be affected, and each would have been sold across the country between January of last year and this past April for $5,300 to $8,450.
A malfunction can occur in the throttle cable of these motorcycles, an issue that could imperil the rider’s ability to maintain control over the throttle itself. This can contribute to a potential crash, although there have thankfully not been any such incidents reported at this time.
To ensure that track record continues, owners of the 7,000 or so affected motorcycles ought to refrain from riding until they can obtain the necessary free repairs from a certified dealer. Those repairs can be had by getting in touch with dealers to set up a time to bring the motorcycles in.
