We recently brought you word of a study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety which revealed that hands-free texting and driving can be as dangerous if not more so than manual texting at the wheel. But a new report wonders exactly why that is, considering that these systems were developed in the first place so that motor vehicle operators could safely communicate with other parties. The author points out that the relative recent adoption of these types of technologies might be one reason for the detriment to driving ability. Drivers may simply need time to adjust to hands-free means of communications. There are also problems with the actual recording of the message; for instance, an individual would have to revisit the message repeatedly if it doesn’t jot down the exact wording correctly.
