Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and Ford Explorer vehicles have been recalled by the Ford Motor Company because of a potential failure of the child safety locks. 12,569 automobiles of the 2013 model year could be affected by this issue, which springs up after the door has been opened and closed numerous times. This repeated movement can lead the child safety locks to be turned off without the driver being notified of such, and thus the child in the back would potentially be able to open the door while in transit. He or she could then sustain an injury if they fall out. To counteract the problem, Ford will be getting in touch with vehicle owners once the recall starts around August 5. Free testing of the child safety locks will be conducted, and if the problem is detected, a replacement service will be initiated.
