The I-80 Challenge has been going on since last week, and a new report checks in on the successes had by the California Highway Patrol with a particular emphasis on the Solano area. The event finds police officials in every state containing a section of Interstate 80 cracking down on drivers whose actions could endanger themselves and others. In Solano, officers have thus far been able to report no major crashes, fatalities, or even traffic blockages attributed to such incidents throughout the first five days of the operation. With most fatalities related to speeding, one sergeant points out that seeing an officer tends to cause drivers to hit the brakes, and thus their mere presence typically is enough to bolster safety. Solano is somewhat infamous for issuing more tickets to triple digit speeders than any other area.
