Los Angeles drivers fed up with traffic jams around the area have something else they can be mad about: texting drivers. The Washington State Patrol has come to the conclusion that many of the minor accidents which create traffic jams would never happen if the drivers involved weren’t texting at the time of the incident. The inference is basically anecdotal at this point, as the department doesn’t have the evidence to back up the claim. A Sergeant with the agency said that’s because civil infractions entailed by a minor accident don’t allow officers to gain access to the driver’s phone to view texting records. Still, the lesson is clear: phones have no place at the wheel.
