Persons who plan to travel on Labor Day weekend, be warned: any illegal activities could land you on the receiving end of a citation from the California Highway Patrol. The agency will be boosting patrols throughout the three day weekend in a bid to catch those drivers whose actions could compromise safety on the roads, especially if those actions involve intoxication at the wheel. The Commissioner of the organization is asking drivers to take a defensive position. That starts with buckling up and never getting behind the wheel after drinking alcohol. Over the same period last year, 35 people across the state were killed along the roads, and the CHP wants to reduce these rates.
