A majority of attorneys general from across the country are calling upon the Food and Drug Administration to not waste time when it comes to regulating electronic cigarettes that currently exist outside the purview of their regulatory scope. The FDA was set to issue a ruling in regards to these products by the end of October, but the attorneys general are worried that they will miss this deadline, as has happened in the past. A letter written to the agency accuses tobacco companies of targeting children with e-cigarette ads that use cartoon imagery. A lack of current restrictions allow advertisements in places where regular tobacco product ads have been banned, and the hope is that the FDA’s actions will place limits on this practice.
