This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week, and a variety of organizations across California are stressing the need for parents and their teens to work together to reduce crashes and attendant fatalities along the road. A press release from the Mercedes Benz Driving Academy explains how that agency has partnered with the Los Angeles Police Department, Impact Teen Drivers, and the California Highway Patrol to support the week’s designation. As part of that partnership, a spokesperson is asking that parents protect their teens by setting a good example at the wheel. A member of the CHP also notes that, while great in practice, the intent of graduated licensing programs is undercut when teens simply hold off driving until they’re beyond the age range of the program.
