Avalon HV, Camry HV, Venza, Avalon, and Camry automobiles of the 2012 and 2013 model years are being recalled by Toyota because of a potential short circuiting issue. 802,769 vehicles have air conditioning condensers containing drain hoses that could be in danger of clogging. When this happens, water can collect at the bottom of the unit, causing a leak that may prompt water to make contact with the module. This can then trigger a short circuit that leads to airbag safety issues. The bags could either deploy at an inappropriate time or not deploy at all during a crash. Either situation could pose a serious safety hazard. Power steering may also be compromised. There’s no word on when the recall will begin or when owners will start to hear from Toyota.
